Hi - I have rosacea - not severe, I would say moderate. I have a lot of redness on my nose and that somewhat branches out to my cheeks. The MB products I have are the makeup remover soap, chamomile cleansing lotion, control cream, calma mask and aloe moisturizer. I noticed a lot of the redness calmed down for a while, but I really think it hasnt been as calm since Ive been using the aloe moisturizer which I bought later than the anti-redness kit. I cant use the control cream alone in the mornings because it has a tacky feeling on my skin and I use a powdery mineral makeup. Is there something you can recommend for a moisturizer that would be good for day and night to use in connection with the control cream that wont aggravate the rosacea and that doesnt feel sticky - I have to have a non-sticky surface or my mineral makeup wont go on smoothly and Im def. not ready to give it up! Also, do you have a recommendation for an eye cream - Im starting to get dark circles and lines as I am aging (Im almost 36). Thanks so much for your help! Until I threw the moisturizer in the mix I was really seeing a difference in the redness - more a difference than any prescription products I have tried! ...Read Response (asked by Melinda R of Lugoff, SC) |

Thank you for your interest in Mario Badescu Skin Care. We’re glad to hear that you’ve been enjoying the skin care line so far. If you think the .Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15) is too heavy for you. I would suggest using the Control Moisturizer For Oily Skin. It is oil free, absorbs quickly without leaving a sticky residue and is great for sensitive skin prone to redness. For best results, always wait a few minutes to allow for absorption before applying your make up. Regarding an eye cream recommendation, one of the best combinations would be using 3-4 drops of the Cellufirm Drops underneath the daily Hyaluronic Eye Cream. The Cellufirm Drops help to minimize the appearance of fine lines while The Hyaluronic Eye Cream hydrates the delicate under eye area as it retains your own skin’s moisture levels. It’s the perfect anti-aging combination.

I have a question regarding acne scarring. I am a 38 yr old female. When I was young I had an acne problem. I still get an ocassional outbreak but for the most part my face is pimple free. I was taking an antibiotic for sometime but stopped taking it when I got pregnant. As I am getting older and now with a 4 month old I feel as if my scarring is more noticeable. I was having dermabrasion done monthly for about 2 yrs however it did not appear to make much of a difference. Is there anything I can do to lessen the appearance of acne scarring?...Read Response (asked by Melinda R of Lugoff) |

If you experience some discoloration, I would first recommend using a daily SPF for your skin such as the Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15). Using gently AHA’s such as fruit extracts and glycolic acid will help to gently even out your skin tone. Hyper-pigmention and discoloration may take a long time to even out. I would strongly recommend using a daily SPF such as the Oil Free Moisturizer (SPF-17) or higher to hydrate and protect your skin for further discoloration. Then I would consider using the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 2-3 times a week at night only to help promote gentle exfoliation as it evens out skin tone. Do not over use this product as it may over dry the skin, otherwise this deep cleansing treatment will be very effective for lessening the appearance of old acne scars. Lastly, you could use the Whitening Mask 2-3 times a week for 10 minutes to help brighten the skin and even out overall skin tone as it discourages further discoloration.

If you have acne prone skin and you are concerned about keeping your skin hydrated, I would recommend using the oil free Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15) as a daily moisture choice. At night, try using the Anti-Acne Serum (New) before bedtime. After cleansing and toning, use a few drops of this serum to give your skin a hydrating boost. It contains 2% salicylic acid to prevent breakouts while you sleep. Just apply a thin layer over the acne prone areas every evening to keep your skin feeling soft, smooth and clear.

I am 51 years old and have acne (clogged pores, oily, and sometimes dry, and flaky skin) and rosacea. I am so frustrated -- how do I treat my skin with your products? I have clogged pores, and I am getting white bumps under my skin that do not come up. I have had rosacea for about 20 years now, and since I went into menopause it has gotten worse. How do I treat the clogged pores on my nose, cheeks, forehead and chin without making my rosacea worse? I do get pustules from the rosacea occasionally, but I am noticing more and more broken capillaries showing especially when I use milder acne medications. What do you recommend? Thanks....Read Response (asked by Jeanie F. of Annandale, VA) |

Based on the information that you provided regarding your skin type (combination/sensitive skin with acne/rosacea) it is necessary to use a very mild regimen to gently cleanse your skin without aggravating the rosacea. I would suggest using the Cream Soap twice daily to cleanse and soothe delicate skin. Follow with the alcohol free Seaweed Cleansing Lotion toner. This non-drying toner cleans and disinfects dry and sensitive skin to prevent blackheads. Mild Witch Hazel formula removes pore clogging debris while Aloe Extract soothes sensitive areas. Use the oil-free Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15) daily to soften dry skin without clogging pores. Prevent pores from clogging by using the Flower & Tonic Mask 1-2 times a week on the t-zone. This is a combination purifying and calming mask for sensitive, congested skin types. Use the Calma Mask on alternating days to instantly calm redness. The Kaolin based formula absorbs oil from pores while soothing botanical Balsam Peru ingredient soothes minor redness and irritation. To spot treat surfaced whiteheads, use the Drying Lotion to help dry them up overnight. The most effective spot treatment for deep bumps is the Sulfur based Buffering Lotion. It is a light, liquid antiseptic solution to soothe and heal cystic blemishes.

I do not t really have that bad of a complexion but there are times where I just want to rip my face off. I always get pimples in the same spots on my face and they are on the corner of each side of my chin and my right cheek. I also get these very light little bumps that are not pimples but under the skin and sometimes will turn into one and have blackheads on my nose and chin and they really bother me. What regimen would you suggest for my skin type? I am also am very sensitive and have very light skin....Read Response (asked by Linsey S. of Largo, FL) |

Having combination/sensitive with occasional blemishes, it sounds as though one of our gentle cleansing product regimens for combination skin would effectively help improve your skin. I would first recommend using the Enzyme Cleansing Gel twice daily to cleanse skin and remove oil and impurities. Follow with our Seaweed Cleansing Lotion, which is a non-drying, non-alcohol toner that cleans and disinfects dry and sensitive skin. This is a combination purifying and calming mask for congested, bumpy or slightly oily skin types. The Kaolin based formula absorbs dirt and oil from pores while the soothing, botanical Balsam Peru ingredient soothes minor redness and irritation. For the occasional surfaced whitehead pimples that you experience, the Drying Lotion will help to dry it up overnight. The most effective spot treatment for deep bumps is the Sulfur based Buffering Lotion. It is a light, liquid antiseptic solution to soothe and heal cystic blemishes.

I am a repeat Mario Badescu customer, and I currently use the Enzyme Cleanser, Glycolic Cleanser twice a week, Cucumber Cleansing Lotion and AHA and Ceramide Moisturizer. I have had problem skin in the past that is now under control due to prescriptions and your products. The only problem I have left is that I use Retin A 5 times a week and now that the weather is colder, sensitive areas of my skin sill dry out very easily. I will sometimes wake up w/very flaky skin, and no matter how much moisturizer I use, it remains flaky for a day or two. Can you recommend a moisturizer that I can either wear at night w/my prescription product, or a day time moisturizer that might help the flakiness without being problematic for my oily T-zone?...Read Response (asked by Katelyn Q. of Chicago, IL) |

Based on the information that you have provided regarding your skin type, I would recommend that you use the Seaweed Night Cream as on oil-free moisturizer before bedtime. Then as a daytime choice you may consider the Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15). It is an oil-free moisturizer that helps to soothe sensitive, dry skin without clogging pores. I would also suggest the Herbal Hydrating Serum. It is an oil-free hydrating gel that can be applied on top of your moisturizer for an extra hydrating boost of moisture. This change should help reduce the dry, flakiness you are experiencing. If however, you still feel dry after adding these products, I would recommend changing your toner from the Cucumber Cleansing Lotion to the Seaweed Cleansing Lotion for the winter season. It is an alcohol free, witch hazel based toner that will remove oil and impurities without drying the skin.

I am 30 years old and I have had acne for almost 10 years, from cystic bumps on my cheeks, to blackheads on my nose and chin, to those annoying little bumps that seem to never go away. I live in NM (it is the desert and it is hell on skin) and now that we are heading into fall/winter the air is very dry. So I cant seem to find the right balance for my skin. I either look broken out like a teenager or dried up and old. ...Read Response (asked by Kate S. of Albuquerque, NM) |

Based on the information that you provided regarding your skin type, I am recommending that you continue using the Acne Facial Cleanser since the 2% Salicylic Acid will continue to prevent breakouts. The Special Cleansing Lotion C is meant for problematic skin with daily breakouts and would be too strong for you. I would follow your cleanser with the Special Cucumber Lotion toner twice daily after cleansing to disinfect the skin and discourage the acne. You may use the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 1-2 times a week only at night to deep clean and exfoliate surface dead skin. Use the oil-free Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15) daily to soften dry skin without clogging pores. I would suggest the Herbal Hydrating Serum to hydrate and soften dry, parched skin nightly. Use the Flower & Tonic Mask 2-3 times a week for 15 minutes to gently deep clean the skin without over-drying skin. The Drying Lotion is the perfect overnight spot treatment for surfaced whiteheads. Lastly, for stubborn cystic acne, the best spot treatment is the Sulfur based Buffering Lotion. It is a light, liquid antiseptic solution to soothe and heal cystic blemishes.

I would like to know if it would be possible to have some samples of your products. I’m interested in many products but I’m not sure what’s right for me. I’m a south-east Asian girl and have sensitive/combination skin. I often have pimples and whiteheads on my t-zone and cheeks and I also have some scars. I’m looking for products to help my pimples heal faster. I swim twice a week and that dries my skin severely and causes me to breakout more. I look forward to hearing from you....Read Response (asked by Sophini K. of France) |

Having sensitive/combination skin requires extra-gentle care and by using our Seaweed Cleansing Soap you will not only cleanse your skin but also exfoliate. To remove oily build-up and bacteria that cause acne the Special Cucumber Lotion will disinfect your skin and prevent breakouts. To provide light-weight moisture and daily sun-protection our Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15) helps to soften and heal the skin. The Flower & Tonic Mask will gently deep clean your pores as well as soothe your skin and create a more refined look. Use the Healing Cream to speed up the healing process of irritated skin, minimize redness and aid in the prevention of scarring. Our best selling Drying Lotion is an excellent spot treatment for those surfaced whiteheads.
