I have a question regarding acne scarring. I am a 38 yr old female. When I was young I had an acne problem. I still get an ocassional outbreak but for the most part my face is pimple free. I was taking an antibiotic for sometime but stopped taking it when I got pregnant. As I am getting older and now with a 4 month old I feel as if my scarring is more noticeable. I was having dermabrasion done monthly for about 2 yrs however it did not appear to make much of a difference. Is there anything I can do to lessen the appearance of acne scarring?...Read Response

If you experience some discoloration, I would first recommend using a daily SPF for your skin such as the Aloe Moisturizer (SPF-15). Using gently AHA’s such as fruit extracts and glycolic acid will help to gently even out your skin tone. Hyper-pigmention and discoloration may take a long time to even out. I would strongly recommend using a daily SPF such as the Oil Free Moisturizer (SPF-17) or higher to hydrate and protect your skin for further discoloration. Then I would consider using the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 2-3 times a week at night only to help promote gentle exfoliation as it evens out skin tone. Do not over use this product as it may over dry the skin, otherwise this deep cleansing treatment will be very effective for lessening the appearance of old acne scars. Lastly, you could use the Whitening Mask 2-3 times a week for 10 minutes to help brighten the skin and even out overall skin tone as it discourages further discoloration.

If you have oily skin with hyper-pigmentation, the first thing I would recommend using is the Oil Free Moisturizer (SPF-17) to protect the skin from further discoloration. Use the Botanical Facial Gel twice daily to cleanse skin and control oil. I would also suggest the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser to deep clean and exfoliate surface dead skin to even out discoloration. Lastly, the Whitening Mask may be used 2-3 times a week for 5-7 minutes to help brighen and even out skin tone. With regular and consistent use, your skin should feel less oily and in time more even toned, especially on your forehead.

What is best to use to help fade sun spots on top of cheeks, top lip and a few minor dark spots left from old blemishes? I do not have breakouts anymore, just dark marks left?...Read Response (asked by Blair T. of Unknown) |

The best products to help fade sun spots always begin with using at least a moderate SPF of 15 or higher to protect your skin from further discoloration. Since the air has been slightly colder and you are no longer breaking out, I would recommend the Collagen Moisturizer (SPF-15) for daily moisture and sun protection. For a moisturizer with a higher SPF choice, use the Suncare (SPF-30) moisturizer daily for maximum sun protection. Use the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 2-3 times a week at night only to gently exfoliate and deep clean skin to promote cell turnover to even out the dark spots. Alternate with the Almond and Honey Face Scrub 2-3 times a week to mildly slough off surface dull skin to soften skin and improve skins texture. Lastly, the Whitening Mask should be used 2-3 times a week for 5-10 minutes to brighten and even out skin tone. Consistent use will help to discourage any hyper-pigmentation from further discoloration.

If you have discoloration from sun spots or old acne scars, I would recommend the following products to help improve your skin. The first suggestion would be to use the Suncare (SPF-30) to help moisturize and offer maximum protection against sun damage and further discoloration. Use the Whitening Mask 2-3 times a week for 5-7 minutes. This hydrating mask contains Kojic Acid and Licorice to help brighten uneven skin tones as it minimizes the discoloration of old acne scars. Lastly, I would suggest using the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 2-3 times a week at night to remove surface dead skin and even out skin tone. The overall texture of your skin will become smoother as it effectively diminishes the appearance of acne scars.

Using the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser two to three times a week will deep clean your pores, exfoliate surface dullness and encourage a more even skin tone. For daytime moisture the Oil Free Moisturizer (SPF-17) will provide daily sun protection and help to prevent further discoloration. To hydrate and brighten uneven skin tone our Whitening Mask will gently reduce the look of old acne scars and discolorations from the sun.
