Eczema
Eczema is a skin condition involving superficial inflammation of the skin primarily affecting the epidermis that causes dryness, itching and red rashes which are often coupled with a scaly surface. It can affect any age group however, it is not contagious. The severity of the condition may vary for each individual. Eczema is a skin condition that must be diagnosed by a dermatologist.
There are several types of Eczema each may stem from being genetically linked as a hereditary condition or in some cases a sensitivity to allergens in the environment. The cause of Eczema is unknown. Although, there is no cure for eczema, an effective skin care routine can help to minimize discomfort. Consult with your dermatologist for the most appropriate treatment for you.
How do I relieve symptoms of Eczema?
If you’ve been diagnosed with having Eczema, your dermatologist will determine the most appropriate method of treatment. It will usually include the use of locally applied emollients, creams, lotions and antihistamines. Emollients protect the skin from water loss which helps to prevent dryness. By providing a barrier, the skin is less dry, itchy and flaky. To reduce further discomfort, non-irritating materials should be worn next to the skin such as loose-fitting cotton. Avoid wearing fabrics such as wool, rough synthetics or silk.
When selecting a skin care regimen, it is important to avoid ingredients that may irritate the skin. Products containing alpha-hydroxys, glycolic acid and alcohol should be avoided.

This protective cream may be used as an effective moisturizer day or night to prevent moisture loss, hydrate and calm flaky, sensitive skin.
