Q: Are your products safe to use during pregnancy?
A:  Mario Badescu skin care regimens are designed to work together as a system. Our customized regimens consist of specific products meant to help you various skin concerns. Consistent use will offer optimal skin care results. Our priority is to help you achieve and maintain healthy, radiant skin. However, when choosing a skin care regimen when you are pregnant, we recommend that you consult with your physician for approval. If you are experiencing hormonal breakouts, you may contact one of our consultants (212)223-3728, for a customized regimen to benefit your skin. `

Q: Do you have any products for Rosacea?
A: Rosacea is a chronic skin condition involving persistent facial flushing that can resemble a sunburn. In more advanced stages, it can evolve into serious eruptions with papules, pustules and cysts. Avoid choosing products that contain Alpha Hydroxy, Alcohol or Glycolic Acid. The most beneficial regimen for red, sensitive skin includes Cream Soap and Chamomile Cleansing Lotion as well as the Azulene Calming Mask or Calma Mask.`

Q: What is the Drying Lotion?
A:  The Drying Lotion is an excellent spot treatment made with a blend of Calamine and Salicylic Acid to dry pimples and soothe surfaced whiteheads overnight.`

Q: How do I apply the Drying Lotion?
A:  Do not shake the bottle. Dip a cotton swab into the pink sediment. Apply by placing a dab on to surfaced whitehead/pimple and let dry over night. In the morning, gently rinse with warm water to remove the solution.`

Q: Are your products tested on animals?
A:  We do not test our products on animals. Mario Badescu uses natural botanical ingredients with minimal preservatives to ensure that we deliver the highest quality products to our customers. Our products are tested and developed in a laboratory environment to ensure the highest standards of production.`

Q: What age is it safe for a child to start using Mario Badescu products?
A:  Generally, we would recommend using our products during the puberty stage. During the early teenage years, the body produces more hormones which cause your oil glands to become more active, ultimately leading to blackheads and pimples. A daily regimen is recommended, although in some cases, even pre-pubescent youngters may benefit from a basic regimen.`

Q: Do I need to use a sunscreen everyday, even if I'm indoors for most of the day?
A:  Yes, it is very important to use a daily sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 15 even if your daily sun exposure is minimal. The cumulative effects of the sun can increase your potential for hyper-pigmentation and premature wrinkles. If you already suffer from dark spots and discoloration, we would recommend using an SPF 30 daily.`

Q: Why is it important to use an eye cream?
A:  The delicate skin around the eye area has very few oil glands, therefore it is beneficial to apply an eye cream daily to keep it hydrated. This will help to reduce dryness and puffiness while it minimizes fine lines/wrinkles.`

Q: What is the general shelf life of the products?
A:  Our products are made with natural botanical and plant extracts which contain minimal preservatives. Since our products are made with the freshest ingredients, the general shelf life is 6-8 months for most products while our astringents/toners usually last up to one year. `

Q: Can I use Mario Badescu products with other acne medications?
A:  Generally, you can safely use our Mario Badescu products with other acne medications. However, we do recommend that you consult with one of our skin specialists regarding product compatibility. For personalized advice call (212) 223-3728.`

Q: How long will it take before I see results?
A:  It usually takes approximately 6-8 weeks if not sooner, to see results. Depending upon your skin type, reaction time may vary. However, consistent use of one of our customized regimens will definitely result in visible improvements.`

Q: What can I do if I suffer from dark spots or acne scarring?
A:  Hyper pigmentation refers to patchy discoloration in the skin. It is a common problem for those who have had excessive sun exposure or hormonal changes during pregnancy. Uneven skin tone may also be a result of acne scarring. Using products that contain Alpha Hydroxy acid, Salicylic acid or Glycolic Acids will help to effectively diminish dark spots. We highly recommend using an SPF 30 daily for optimal sun protection.`

Q: How do I choose which spot treatment to use for my breakouts?
A:  If you are experiencing blemishes that come up to the surface to a whitehead, choose the Drying Lotion as an overnight spot treatment. If your blemishes are deeper blemishes that are more cystic, apply the Buffering Lotion to help heal the area at night.`

Q: Do any of your ingredients require the use of sun protection?
A:  Whenever you are using any products that contain Alpha Hydroxy or Glycolic Acid, we recommend protecting your skin with a minimum of SPF 15 daily. However, if you doctor has prescribed Retin-A or if you suffer from hyper-pigmentation, we recommend using SPF 30 instead.`

A: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Money Order, and Checks (US dollars only). Make checks payable to Mario Badescu Skin Care and mail to 320 East 52nd Street, New York, NY 10022. Do not forget to add shipping. Orders are processed once checks clear in approximately 10 days. `

Q: What are the shipping and handling costs?
A: Standard domestic shipping and handling rates:
     $4.95 for sales totaling $1 - $60
     $6.95 for sales totaling $60.01-$100
     $8.50 for sales totaling $100.01 & up`

Q: Are there shipping options to expedite my order?
A: Domestic orders may be shipped 2-day UPS or Fed Ex with rates starting at $15.00 or overnight with rates starting at $25.00. Shipping rates will vary based on package weight and zip code. Overnight service is not available in all zip codes.`

Q: I've placed an order online, when can I expect to receive it?
A: Web orders usually arrive with in 7-10 business days within the continental USA. International order shipments can take 1-2 weeks or more depending on the destination. Orders are shipped from our Edison, NJ location. `

Q: I filled the skin analysis online, when should I expect to receive my samples?
A: It can take up to 5 weeks to receive your sample regimen. Samples are sent via the USPS. If you do not receive your products, please visit the contact us page and select "Products & General Information" drop down and submit your inquiry there. We appreciate your patience.`

Q: I've made a mistake placing my order online, who do I contact to fix it?
A: Call (212) 223-3728 to speak to a customer service representative or email your request to [email protected]. Orders that have been processed and shipped can not be changed. Most orders ship the following business day.`

Q: Do you ship to P.O. boxes?
A: Yes, we do ship to P.O. boxes as well as APO/FPO via the U.S. Postal Service (USPS)`

Q: What is the return/exchange policy?
A: We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. For products purchased directly from Mario Badescu, returns and exchanges are accepted within 30 days of the purchase date (shipping and handling not included). Products should be securely packaged and shipped back to Mario Badescu Return Department – 120 McGaw Drive – Edison, NJ 08837. Please include a note if you would like a refund, exchange or Mario Badescu credit.

We apologize but we can not accept returns or exchanges for products purchased from a retail or department store. Please contact the retailer for their return policy.`

Q: Does Mario Badescu ship outside the USA
A: Yes, Mario Badescu can ship all over the world with very few exceptions. Customers are required to pay any duties or taxes upon arrival of the order into the country. If goods are refused, the purchaser is still accountable for the shipping fees incurred. Shipping rates begin at $25 for most international orders. Please email [email protected] for any international shipping inquiries. You may also visit our store locator for local retailers in your country. To find out shipping costs, add your selected products to your shopping cart and fill out the shipping form. Q: What does Free Ground Shipping mean?
A: Mario Badescu is offering Free Shipping on domestic orders, placed online only, being shipped anywhere in the continental U.S. going ground delivery using promo code: SHIPMB. Next day, Second Day and International orders are not included in the Free Shipping promotion (Hawaii and Alaska are excluded also). Q: How are Canada orders processed?
A: Mario Badecsu has now teamed up with FedEx for shipments to Canada. What this mean is, less costs to our customers and faster delivery. Canada orders will now include everything that is required for your order to pass brokerage and to be delivered to you with no extra fees upon delivery. Q: Why can't I receive my password?
A: In most cases your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may be blocking our emails from coming through to you. If you wish to recieve our emails, please contact your ISP. Q: Where are my sample products?
A: Due to high volumes of orders a few will get over looked in the system. If you have questions about where your orders may be or why you haven't received them, please visit the contact us page and select the "Products & General Information" selection and send your question.`

Q: How do I update my account?
A: Click the Products button and select the "Log In" link. Once you have logged in, you will see an "Account" button next to the "Log Out" button. Here you can update you bill to or ship to address or update you password and email address.`

Q: Is there a place for me to sign up for new products and events?
A: Yes. If you go to our home page and scroll down to the bottom, you will see a section labeled, "Products & Events". Here you can sign yourself up to receive information about our new products and receive emails about events that are happening in your area. If you are a new customer, you will be emailed a temporary password, which you can use to log in with. We suggest changing your password. If you do not receive your password within 10 min, please check your spam folder to make sure it has not been placed in there. `

Q: How do I unsubscribe from your list?
A: If you are receiving unwanted emails and you would like to be removed from the list, please open the emails and click the unsubscribe button located in the email. This will ensure that you are automatically removed from our list.     Q: How do I get to the salon using public transportation?
    A: We are located 1 and a half blocks East of the E, V and 6 subway station. The M15 bus is closest to us on 1st Ave and 2nd Avenue. Taxis are available on the avenues at all times.`

    Q: Is parking available?
    A: There is a parking garage at 350 East 52nd Street, a few doors down from the salon. Have us stamp your ticket for a parking discount. There is limited, metered street parking on the avenues.`

    Q: What forms of payment are accepted in the salon?
    A: We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB Card, traveler’s checks and personal checks with proper ID. Gratuities must be cash only.`

    Q: Are gratuities included?
    A: Gratuities are not included in the service prices.`

    Q: What is the cancellation policy?
    A: We require a 24 hour notice. We also require a credit card for booking parties of 3 or more.`

    Q: I’ve never had a spa treatment before. Is there anything special I need to know?
    A: Please arrive on time to ensure a full, relaxed treatment. Please turn off your cell phone and speak softly to maintain a tranquil environment for our guests. Allow a few extra minutes after your treatment to discuss an at home regimen with one of our skin specialists.`

    Q: Do I need an appointment?
    A: Appointments are highly recommended and absolutely necessary for evenings and weekends, although we will accept walk ins, schedule permitting.`

    Q: How often should I have a facial?
    A: We recommend once-a-month facials for normal skin and more often for problematic or acne prone skin. Your esthetician can help you better decide on the frequency of your treatments based on your skin type.`

    Q: What if I arrive late to my appointment?
    A: We appreciate a phone call notifying us of your lateness. We will do our best to accommodate you with all the services you have scheduled, time permitting. We regret that rescheduling your services may be necessary.`

    Q: What is the age requirement for treatments?
    A: We recommend that facials begin at age 12. For body massages we require our guests to be 18. We regret that children may not accompany adults in the treatment rooms for safety and space reasons.`

    Q: Is it safe to have a facial if I am under the care of a dermatologist?
    A: Yes facials are safe although it is necessary that you inform your esthetician of any medications you are using (Retin A, Accutane, Differin) so we can modify our treatments so as not to interfere with your doctor’s orders. Our estheticians may decide not to treat your skin if there is severe irritation, a skin condition or medication side effects that may be worsened by having a facial. Please check with your doctor before scheduling any facial treatments.`

    Q: I have very sensitive skin. What products will be used on my skin?
    A: Please notify your esthetician of any allergies or ingredient sensitivities so modifications in your treatment can be made. We use only Mario Badescu products for our facials.`

    Q: Is it safe to have a facial if I am pregnant?
    A: Yes it is safe although you will need to be lying in a horizontal position for most of the 75 minute treatment. Scheduling a facial near the end of your pregnancy is not recommended for your comfort.`

    Q: Can I have a body massage if I am pregnant?
    A: It is not recommended to have a massage in the first trimester. We do not offer pre-natal massage at this time.`

    Q: Do I have to be totally naked for my massage?
    A: We provide disposable undergarments for your privacy. All of our massage therapists are women and will respect your comfort level and modesty.`

    Q: When should I schedule my waxing appointment before my vacation in the sun?
    A: Freshly waxed skin is more sun sensitive and may be slightly red or irritated for a day or 2. Waxing at least 2-3 days before leaving is recommended.`

    Q: What should I wear to my facial appointment?
    A: You will be given a robe to wear so you may take off your shirt and shoes so you are more comfortable and your clothes will stay protected and clean. We do not recommend wearing any jewelry to your facial. If you choose to, we recommend you leave it on or place it in your purse, not on the shelf or your robe pocket. We are not responsible for personal property. Please leave your valuables at home.`

    Q: I am getting married. How long before my wedding should I have a facial?
    A: It is recommended that you have your facial at least 4-5 days before any special event. Schedule more than a week in advance if you have acne or problematic skin. You may purchase a series of 6 facials (at a discounted price) and start having regular facials several months prior to get your skin glowing and beautiful for your special day.`

    Q: Can I put make-up on after a facial?
    A: We hope you will enjoy your glowing, clean, moist skin as long as possible before putting on make-up. It will not be harmful for your skin to apply make-up immediately after, however.`

    Q: Can men have facials?
    A: Yes, Mario Badescu Skin Care offers our facial treatments to both men and women. Men make up a large part of our customer base and our estheticians will address the special needs of men’s skin.`

    Q: Should I shave before having a facial?
    A: It is recommended that you shave the morning of your facial.`

    Q: How can I maintain my beautiful, post-facial skin at home?
    A: After your facial you are encouraged to meet with one of our product experts who will customize an at-home skin care regimen for you.`
