Rosacea Treatments

Since there is no cure for rosacea, medications prescribed are only to treat symptoms and fall in the anti-inflammatory and antibiotic categories. Common rosacea medications include topical anti-fungal creams and lotions and oral antibiotics for more advanced cases. Sometimes vascular laser treatment is recommended in severe cases of telangectasias (dilated and broken capillaries) and rhinophyma (enlarged, bulbous nose) to reduce redness by disintegrating the visible vessels under the skin. Reducing bacteria associated with papules and pustules along with minimizing flushing are the goals for medical rosacea treatments.

What is most important to us here at Mario Badescu Skin Care is the skin care product trigger factor. Although we are not doctors or claiming to have a cure, we want to be able to alleviate some of the irritation and suffering that our rosacea customers may experience. We emphasize gentle products containing Aloe, Chamomile, Seaweed and other soothing, anti-inflammatory ingredients. Most exfoliants, even non-abrasive ones are too strong and should be avoided or used very infrequently and only in between flare-ups. Ingredients that increase blood flow in the skin like Peppermint, menthol and isopropyl alcohol, should be avoided. Since all skin types and conditions vary from person to person, we highly encourage you to discuss your particular skin type and degree of rosacea with one of our skin specialists so we can recommend the best combination of products to give you the best results.
