How To Get The Perfect Shave: Smooth Legs Edition

perfect shave

Legs so smooth, you’ll be admiring your own gams all summer long.

The perfect shave should leave you with smooth, soft, hydrated skin. There should never be any irritation, redness, or dryness. (Nor should there be any hair left!) Here's your guide to the perfect shave for super smooth legs. Let's get started!

What you will need:

Before you begin your shave, place all of your items near the bathtub or shower within easy reach. To enhance the experience, play relaxing spa music and light candles or incense. When choosing a razor, try to find one with multiple blades; this will increase the probability of hair removal the first time around. For silky smooth skin from summer to spring, follow these steps!

Step 1: Begin by wetting your legs with warm water. This will help to open up the hair follicles and allow each strand to soften. Moisturized legs will also help the shaving cream go on smoothly and evenly.

Step 2: Prep your skin with a light layer of Pre-Shave Conditioner. This cooling blue gel features soothing Azulene and Lavender Extract to keep even the most sensitive skin supple and soft while getting a comfortable, close shave. Wait a few minutes after applying to let it settle on the skin’s surface. (By the way, blue legs make for great Instagram photos. Hash tag #blueformario)!

Step 3: Apply shaving lotion to the fronts, backs, and sides of both legs. You don’t need inches of thick shaving cream to do a good job. In fact, a half inch layer should be more than enough.

Step 4: Wet your razor in warm water and shave opposite the direction of hair growth. After shaving a few strokes, wet the razor under running water or shake it clean in a cup of warm water to remove buildup of hair and cream. *It is never advisable to move the blade sideways across your skin. This will cause painful nicks and cuts. Also avoid touching the blade with your fingers, as it can easily cut your skin especially when skin has been softened by water.

Step 5: Once you have shaved both legs thoroughly, run your hands over your legs to feel for any roughness. If there is still stubble, add more shaving cream to the area and move the blade across the skin from a different angle than before.

Step 6: Pat your legs dry with a towel. Do not rub hard, as this will irritate freshly shaved skin. Treat any nicks or cuts with styptic pencil or powder.

Step 7: Apply lotion to your legs in smooth, circular motions, and let air dry.

Step 8: Wear your shorts, skirts, dresses and bathing suits with the utmost confidence!
