There is something essentially old fashioned and Victorian about Winter, isn’t there? It’s a time when we tend to draw closer to the people we really care about and retreat into the warmth of each other’s homes.
And if current weather is any indicator, the Farmer's Almanac was correct: we're in for a very cold winter. I’ve already pulled my heavy sweaters and super-warm winter coat out of storage and swapped out a few key skin care products for gentler, richer formulas. The problem with cold weather is that your skin is constantly being exposed to extremes in temperature. Outside, all is freezing and wet and irritating. When it’s cold enough, you can get windburn just walking to the store! Inside, the heat can be welcome but also incredibly drying. If Winter weather tends to dry out and sensitize your skin, consider adding a night cream to your evening routine. The moisturizer that worked beautifully all summer and fall may simply not be enough for today’s weather, and nighttime is the best opportunity to help your skin repair itself while you sleep. My favorite is the Seaweed Night Cream.
Happy First Day of Winter!
