Skin Care Guide for a Winter Wedding

I got married on New Years Eve in New Jersey, so you can imagine that it was not exactly a warm day—and as you might guess, we had no outdoor pictures taken. I am not one of those people who will tough it out on a freezing day and fake a smile for the sake of photos—even my own wedding wasn’t incentive enough for me. Plus, why risk a bridezilla moment? I was happy as a clam to have everything done indoors. Proper skin care is important for all people, but is even more of a dire need for brides, especially winter brides. If you are engaged and planning a winter wonderland wedding, you need to take some special considerations into account in order to prep your skin for the big (albeit chilly) day.

Down to Basics

First things first—a proper skin care regimen is important at all times. It is crucial to choose skin care products suitable for your skin type. Unsure of your skin type? Click here for an online analysis. The following are steps in a proper skin care regimen:

1. Cleanse

2. Exfoliate (two to three times a week)

3. Tone

4. Treat (with a serum that caters to your skin’s needs)

5. Moisturize (with sunscreen for daytime and one without sunscreen for night)

Mask Yourself

If you’re not an avid user of face masks, now is the time to start using them more often. Applying a mask regularly can truly make a difference in your skin. To achieve optimum results, use them at least once a week—especially in the three months prior to your wedding. Furthermore, try our Gingko Mask. It is perfect to prep your skin for the winter months as it contains super hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and nourishing ingredients such as Vitamin E, Gingko and Ginseng Extract. However, if you are very oily all year round—even on the harshest winter day—try our Flower & Tonic Mask.

Upgrade Your Night Cream

Protect your skin and prevent dryness and dehydration by swapping your nighttime moisturizer for one that is formulated to combat cold-induced dryness, such as our Protein Night Cream (especially if you already have dry skin). If you have combination or oily skin, try our oil-free Seaweed Night Cream.
