What is Keratosis Pilaris?

Do you or have you ever had dry, rough patches of tiny red or white bumps on your arms, thighs, cheeks, or other parts of your body that would not go away? There’s a chance you may have (or might have had) Keratosis Pilaris (K.P.). This skin condition is not serious or harmful, but can be a nuisance. Generally it does not hurt (nor is it itchy) and oftentimes it subsides by the age of 30.

Who Does K.P. affect?

Keratosis Pilaris does not discriminate based on age, gender, or ethnicity and therefore can affect anyone.

Although there is no cure for K.P., it can be managed by using gentle, skin-softening skin care products in combination with exfoliating products, particularly both mechanical (i.e., face scrubs) and chemical exfoliants (i.e. alpha hydroxy acids and salicylic acid). It is always best to consult with a dermatologist to advise you on the best option for your case of K.P.
