The Monthly Edit: February Skin Care

Welcome to #MarioMonthlyEdit, where you (yes, you) get a sneak peek at our current essentials.

January was all about brightening and smoothing, natch (there really is no better way to start off a new year, to be honest). This month, we’re going back to the basics for two reasons:

  1. To maintain balance to windy, winter weather doesn’t wreak havoc on our skin, and

  2. To let us take a closer look at what our skin really needs

Too often we’re tempted by the latest series of peels or acid-based products (which usually happens right before the New Year in a rushed attempt to get our skin looking as perfect as possible)—and while those things can benefit your skin, they’re not for every skin type. (It’s also important to note that too much can take a toll on your skin, no matter how oily or resilient you think your skin is.)

…which is where simple, gentle, and effective skin care come into play. Forget the bells and whistles for a second, and instead, reach for tried-and-true staples that can return your skin back to a state of balance.

Here’s what we recommend for dry, sensitive, or over-worked skin this month. (And if you’re combination/oily, we recommend following this regimen instead.)

Cream Soap

This is the most gentle face wash in our entire line. It’s creamy, it’s moisturizing, and it’s fragrance-free—making it the go-to cleanser for those with reactive skin. Light makeup, excess oil, and impurities are washed away without leaving skin feeling tight or dry.

Chamomile Cleansing Lotion

Another go-to for sensitive skin, this toner harbors the Chamomile’s calming properties to help comfort and re-balance skin after cleansing.

Flower & Tonic Mask

All skin types—including dry—need a weekly deep cleaning. Our Flower & Tonic Mask is a mild, purifying mask that gently pulls out impurities from pores as antioxidant Evening Primrose and Gardenia work to help improve moisture levels and encourage firmer, smoother skin.

Rose Hips Nourishing Oil

This under-the-radar skin-saver deserves more time in the limelight. Its lightweight formula sinks in quickly to revive flaky or dehydrated areas while giving skin a dewy, youthful glow.

#MBSkinTip 1: Keep a bottle on hand at all times to smooth dry patches (like between the brows or around the nose). Simply apply 1-2 drops to the areas that need a hydration boost to rejuvenate skin.

#MBSkinTip 2: Stash this oil in your carry-on. This frequent flyer fave is a must for beating cabin air (notorious for making skin dry, tight, and totally out-of-balance.)

Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

If you haven’t tried this facial mist, trust . Your skin needed a spritz of this yesterday.
