"I'm not sure exactly what this balm is supposed to do, but I'm happy with how my skin looks! It is a surprising consistency, very waxy. As it contains salicylic acid, I have been applying it to nose and chin area ( where my pores are larger) at bedtime and under daytime BB Cream. It provides a smooth primer effect, erasing evidence of any pores. I do believe the pores are smaller, too. I have been an MB loyalist for 48 years, changing products as my skin has changed and constantly receive compliments on my skin."

Overall very pleased

"I wish I could give this 4. 5 stars, because in general I am very pleased with it. The blurring effect is nice and, as another reviewer said, is great for a "no makeup" look. Most mornings after toning and moisturizing I apply this balm all over my face and follow with pressed powder, light blush, brows, and mascara--good to go! I got this skin perfecting balm to be a replacement for my Maybeline primer because of the better ingredients and skin benefits. So far it is doing exactly what I hoped it would. My only "complaint" and the reason for a less than 5-star rating is the consistency of the actual product. It is MUCH thicker than I was anticipating. Since the description says it can be used for all over application, I assumed the consistency would be similar to other mattifying primers or even some of MB's night creams. However, this skin balm is almost like wax. Instead of being able to easily dip my finger into the jar I have to kind of scrape the contents out with the flat side of my fingernail. It's a bit difficult to then distribute the product evenly over all my fingertips for application to my face. None of this has been a deal breaker, tho, as I still like this product and use it daily. Maybe MB could start including one of those little plastic spatula/applicators with it?"
